As you move outside for the Spring, Summer and Fall season it is a great time to schedule your annual "check up" for your fireplace. No matter what kind of fuel you use, the chimney and all gas burners should be cleaned and maintained for your safety and the most efficient operation.
DIRECT VENT: The chimney flue and firebox must be cleaned of all soot, creosote, ashes and loose debris. The firebox must be sealed properly have a tight fitting damper and be free of cracks. For all gas logs, the pressure needs to be checked annually as well.
VENT-FREE: Do not burn any carbon producing flames (candles, oil lamps, incense, etc.) because they cause soot. Never use cleaning products! Keep the appliance free of hair and dust as well. Professional annual cleaning is required for control compartments, burners and circulating passageways.
